In Portuguese the word TOCAR brings together several meanings. In English the meanings are differentiated. Play, feel, touch... 

"Tocadora" represents the seven women honored in the movie/book.

"A Tocadora” é a dança inconsciente da rotina de uma mulher e de uma casa, acompanhadas pelo som do violoncelo, de água a correr e vozes ao longe. É uma homenagem a mulheres excepcionais reunidas na personagem da Tocadora. Guilhermina Suggia e Jacqueline Du Pré, violoncelistas. Louise Bourgois, Lurdes Castro e Camile Claudel, escultoras. Beatrix Potter, ilustradora e Blimunda, personagem de livro. Histórias de vida referidas como forças, como caminhos já desbravados e que a Tocadora agora percorre. Com os instrumentos que conhece, penetra o som e o movimento. A casa como violoncelo, as cordas como cabelo, as gavetas como lugares, as janelas como limites. A tocadora que não sabe tocar violoncelo. Por isso, desenha-o. Leva-o no seu imaginário, para os lugares que habita e que a habitam a ela.

Mostra-se a essência do movimento através do vestir de um casaco, de uma água que ferve, do lavar de um pincel, da batata que se descasca e principalmente, mãos, numa combinação de movimentos subtis, gestos estéticos, que modificam a percepção, a atitude, e alteram o tempo, desmaterializando-o, como música.

O texto escrito e a narração interligar-se-ão, como linhas de um poema, voz e palavras soltas, presas nas imagens, cosidas em almofadas. Será um filme tornado livro ou vice-versa, numa contínua passagem de meio em meio.

The "Cello player" is the unconscious dance routine of a woman and a house, accompanied by the sound of the cello, water running and voices in the distance. It is a tribute to exceptional women gathered in the character of the player. Guilhermina Suggia and Jacqueline Du Pré, cello players. Louise Bourgois, Lourdes Castro and Camille Claudel, sculptors. Beatrix Potter, illustrator and Blimunda, a book character. Life stories referred as forces, as open ways now traversed by the Player. With the tools she knows, she penetrates the sound and movement. The house like a cello, strings like hair, places like drawers, windows as limits. The Player who can not play the cello. So she draws it. Carries it in hers imaginary to the places she inhabits and that inhabit her.

The essence of the movement is shown through the dressing of a jacket, water boiling, the washing of a brush, by peeling a potato and shows mainly, hands. A combination of subtle movements, aesthetic gestures that alter the perception, the attitude, and change time, dematerializing it, like music.

The written text and narration will interconnect, like lines from a poem, voice and loose words, attached to images, sewn in pillows. It will be a film made ​​book or vice versa, a continuous passage from medium to medium.
